The Instructional Leadership Institute

District administrators, site administrators, and instructional coaches are invited to join this fall workshop series with leaders from the CSMP, the Yolo County Office of Education, SCOE, and 21CSLA.

When:
  • February 6, 8:30-3:30
  • March 6, 8:30-3:30
  • optional community of practice to follow in the spring
What to expect:

Even as schools expand community partnerships, interventions, and services to students and families, school leaders recognize that excellent classroom instruction remains the cornerstone of high-quality education.  This institute will center school leaders' role as instructional leaders, addressing the following topics:

  • Recent policies affecting classroom teaching and how school leaders can navigate and support teachers in shifting policies.
  • Current instructional models and frameworks in each of the four core subject areas: mathematics, science, social science, and English language arts.
  • Shared concepts and practices that can be taught across disciplines and leveraged to develop students' critical thinking and literacy, with special attention to civic engagement, data literacy, and media literacy.

The institute will be followed by an optional community of practice in the spring, in which leaders will be invited to choose a subject area and address a problem of practice in collaboration with colleagues.
