Stories of People of Color in the OC: Teacher Summer Workshop

The UCI History Project is offering an Ethnic Studies Literacy professional development series for local educators. Apply to join this professional development series, where K-12 educators will engage in learning about the Stories of People of Color in the OC. Teachers will have access to primary sources available at UCI, meet and learn from UCI scholars and archivists, and engage in a series of activities with the ultimate goal of creating Ethnic Studies lessons that center literacy.

Educator Commitments:

  1. Engage in a professional development series and create lessons, from June 10-14, 2024 in person at UCI.

  2. Implement lessons during the 2024-2025 school year.

  3. Present developed curriculum at UCI Orange County & Southeast Asian Archive Center during the Spring of 2025.

A cohort of 6 Teacher Fellows will be selected.  Fellows will receive an honorarium.  Completed applications must be received by May 10, 2024. Applicants will be notified by the end of  May 2024. For further questions please contact emilleer@uci.edu.
